The long awaited, greatly anticipated loofah

One of the things I was most anxious to grow this past season were loofah gourds.  But, I was late getting the seeds started, late getting the raised bed finished to finally plant the seedlings and then our growing season was cut short with an early frost!  Not the best scenario for a bountiful harvest and while 12 were fully-grown our early frost took them out before I got them inside. We did end up saving 3 that we could dry and use!  The much-anticipated and long-awaited harvest, though meager, was not a disappointment!  I have to say it has to be one of the most exciting things I've grown, so far.  We did save plenty of seeds and I can't wait to plant them again. And hopefully, this next year our calendar schedule will allow us a much longer growing and harvest season!
