Update on our black plastic front yard

One year ago our front yard was more than weeds, it was hard packed clay with lots of weed shrubs, vines, poison ivy and everything thriving, except grass.

In an effort to be natural and organic we covered the entire front yard with a heavyweight black plastic covered it with large rocks here and there to hold it down and waited. 

We waited for an entire year folks!  But the wait paid off big time!  Today, a year later, I rolled back a section of the plastic and found dark brown dirt. Soft and rakeable and ready for seed.  So easy and so worth the wait. 

Now to get the grass seed planted and thriving before the weeds return!
