Lettuces are ready to harvest and the peas are coming on strong. Tomatoes are forming and the squash is busy growing, but it will be a while yet before they are ready for harvest. I am excited to try growing Sorghum and Loofah sponges this year. It's always fun to try something new. The potatoes and onions are looking good. But the peppers and spinach are not looking happy, not sure if it is our soil mix or too much rain? The garden beds sit on pretty hard clay soil and I wonder if a few of the beds are not draining properly as a result. The spinach and peppers look like they are overwatered even though I haven't had to supplement the rain yet. We will have to move them around next season if the problem doesn't correct itself or try to contour the land below those beds to allow for better drainage. Also not doing well is one of the cherry trees we planted this year. It was a bare root tree and was looking great and then all of a sudden the leaves dried up even though it has been really rainy here. So again, left wondering if too much water collected around the new root system?

June Garden update
It looks like squash is up next and the green beans. They both got off to a bad start, Wondering if our soil, which has a lot of clay in it, held too much of the rain we've had lately and as they say, too much of a good thing, is not always a good thing. Apparently, that held true for our garden! But, we've had lots of sunny days lately and I think we are back on track. The squash is coming on strong and could really be picked now at any time. Holding out a few more days. Tomatoes are green but growing and soon we'll have some vine-ripened tomatoes we grew from seed!
