It was a long time coming, but we finally made the move to our homestead 3 weeks ago! It's still surreal that we are actually calling this new venture and place our home. When we moved in we didn't have any running water inside so it felt a bit like camping in a large wooden structure. Thankfully that has changed a little, we now have hot and cold running water in one bathroom, at the kitchen sink and in the laundry room - a working washer and dryer was a huge improvement. Pretty exciting change, but still no working shower, so we wait for a sunny day and shower outside. Yeah I know, it's December! But after a few more tiles are installed (bummed we ran out of trim pieces and need to get more) then one bathroom will be complete.
Unpacking and getting the house set up rather "temporary" since we are in the middle of a construction zone, has kept us busy and proved a bit of a challenge. But we are handling things well and more importantly, my 97-year-old mom who is living with us, made the move and has adjusted very nicely. We expected more of a challenge with that transition, but I guess after 97 years she has seen a lot, survived a lot, and simply goes with the flow.
Went to a local church today and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship. We had not really been out much so it was a welcomed change of pace to be around others and worship together.
This afternoon I took a few minutes to explore our property and the local neighborhood. Thought I'd share a few of the photos I captured on my phone.
