A little grace goes a long way

The concrete septic tank which turned turtle in our septic hole the other night during that loud rainstorm could have become quite the financial setback for us.  Notice I said, " could have."

With the early  morning sun streaming through the windows and over our muddy yard, we decided it was best to just get up and drive over to the septic company and have a face to face talk (ahem I mean confess, that yes we indeed failed to heed their warnings and did not fill our tank with a sufficient water level to ensure it would not float up out of the ground.)  No one had ever mentioned the possibility of it flipping over, but when we showed them our photos the seasoned owner of the company said, "well we see 'em floating all the time, but not very often do we see them flip over!"  Yup... we had to be the special ones!

They said they couldn't guarantee they would be able to right it and pull it out of the install, empty it and get it set back in place properly, they just simply weren't designed to take that kind of handling.  After the week we had just experienced we were planning for the worst-case scenario. They said we'd need to give it a day or two to dry up or the truck would have trouble maneuvering close enough to work.  They showed up first thing the next morning however and after a few tense moments, they were able to pull it up and out successfully, lay it over and then re-set it into the ground.  When I asked what we owed them he said a couple hundred bucks to cover their time.  We had definitely been granted some grace...by God's provision and protection and by this amazing company that had us entirely at their mercy and instead of taking advantage of us"do it your-selfers", they showed us grace in that moment as not only did they charge us the bare minimums, they never even said, "we told you so", even though they were probably thinking it!
